Plockton Kayak Carnival – 10th to 12th September 2021
Scotland’s Year of Coasts and Waters is an opportunity to showcase and promote the amazing opportunities for water-borne adventure and immerse your senses in all things coastal.
2020 was a special year for Sea Kayak Plockton as we celebrated 10 years of thrilling customers with paddling trips around Skye and Lochalsh. Due to COVID, our planned celebrations in 2020 weren’t able to go ahead. Instead, to mark the occasion paddlers of all abilities are invited to join a sea kayaking celebration in 2021 – the Plockton Kayak Carnival.
The carnival is our way of saying thank you to the people, landscape, and wildlife that have made the first 11 years of Sea Kayak Plockton so memorable. Our team of amazing instructors will be there, plus special guest, Brian Wilson. It’ll be a weekend of kayaking, talks, food, ceilidh and good craic. We promise it will be informative, fun, friendly and inclusive. We can’t wait!

Brian is a renowned paddler and author of two sea kayaking literary classics:- Blazing Paddles and Dances With Waves. He specialises in extended sea kayaking expeditions and adventure travel – and then writing about it. Blazing Paddles is his story of journeying by kayak solo around Scotland, and Dances With Waves is his solo circumnavigation of Ireland. Both books cleverly capture the essence of sea kayaking. They’re not just books about ‘edging around’ a coastline, but more about the coast itself. This is the place where the sea kayaker has to stop (fairly frequently!), where tides ebb and flow, where people live and work, which makes sea kayaking such a special and interesting way to travel.

Will Copestake, is part of our team and worked with Sea Kayak Plockton jointly leading our 2019 Outer Hebrides expedition. Will is the founder of Kayak Summer Isles and leads adventures between Scotland and Patagonia. In his spare time Will pursues expeditions around the world, which includes kayaking across 1400km of Patagonian fjords. In 2015 Will was named both Scottish and UK Adventurer of the year for his 364 day solo circumnavigation of Scotland by sea kayak and continuous ascent of all 282 winter munro mountains. He then followed this two years later with a winter round of all 222 Corbett mountains. He’s currently in Patagonia and is planning to kayak around Cape Horn.
